About
Home searches were built for one person. Most of ours are not.
AstraHomes is a home search built around the actual decision: two or more people who have to agree before anyone books a showing.
The problem we kept running into
Every listing site is built for a single browser tab and a single opinion. The moment a second person needs to weigh in, a partner, a parent, a future roommate, the workflow falls apart into screenshots, forwarded links, and group chats nobody can search later. Nobody built the tool for the part of house hunting that is actually hard: getting everyone to agree.
We also noticed how much of a listing search is spent translating a plain idea (“something detached, close to transit, that will not wreck our budget”) into a wall of dropdowns and checkboxes that never quite matches what you meant.
What AstraHomes does differently
- You describe the home you want in your own words, and search works from that sentence instead of a filter form.
- You invite the people you are actually deciding with, and everyone swipes on the same list independently.
- A match only happens when everyone has already said yes, so the group conversation starts after the hard part is done, not before.
Where the listings come from
AstraHomes is built on top of live MLS data, delivered through a licensed Ontario real estate brokerage. We do not invent listings, and we do not claim broader data access than we actually have. See the MLS disclaimer for the specifics.
Where we are right now
AstraHomes is early. The site you are looking at is the foundation, natural-language search and group matching are the two features we are building toward first. If you want to be part of that from the start, create an account and we will let you know as each piece goes live.
Frequently asked questions
- What is AstraHomes?
- AstraHomes is Tinder, but for home search. It lets you describe the home you want in plain language instead of using filter dropdowns, then start a group with the people you are moving in with and swipe left or right on listings together until you match on a home to go see.
- Where do AstraHomes listings come from?
- Listings come from live MLS data supplied through Astra Realty Group, Brokerage, a licensed Ontario real estate brokerage sourced from the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB). See the MLS disclaimer for details.
- How does group matching work on AstraHomes?
- You create a group and invite the people you are house hunting with. Everyone swipes left (pass) or right (like) on the same list of listings independently, and a match appears once everyone in the group has swiped right on the same home.
- Is AstraHomes free to use?
- Yes. You can search listings in natural language without an account, and creating an account to use group matching does not cost anything.
- Is AstraHomes a real estate brokerage?
- No. AstraHomes is a search product, not a brokerage. Listing data is provided through Astra Realty Group, Brokerage, and any offer or transaction is handled by a licensed real estate professional, not AstraHomes.
